Eng. Terence Agbor Ma'Nnyo Tabi, the first keynote speaker at the Hustlers Engineering Student event, delivered a speech titled "Success and its formula". He talked about the role of failure in success, the importance of the process and challenges in the journey, and how to achieve success. He identified an engineer as someone who can identify a problem, propose a solution, and solve it.

One key takeaway from Engineer Tabi's speech is the importance of self-discipline, sacrifice, and recognizing the role of failure in achieving success. Success is not just about achieving a goal but also the process of overcoming challenges and failures. To succeed, one has to be disciplined, motivated, and willing to learn from mistakes.

Engineer Tabi's formula for success is Ability + Habit + Goal + Learning + Effort + Opportunities+ Passion + Humility = Satisfaction (happiness). Therefore, to succeed means to be happy. He emphasized the need to challenge oneself, be humble, and strive to be happy.

Overall, It is crucial to recognize the role of failure in success and understand that success is not just about achieving a goal but also the process of overcoming challenges and failures. The world doesn't need certificates but skills, and to succeed ultimately leads to being happy.

One of the speakers, Eng. Oben Desmond Ashu emphasized the importance of goal setting by sharing quotes from two successful men: "Dreams without goals are just dreams" by Denzel Washington and "Dreams are not the things you see when you sleep, but those you see when you are awake" by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Eng. Oben Desmond Ashu also stressed the importance of setting goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. He encouraged the audience to practice self-discipline, transform failures into learning opportunities, celebrate their success (little or big), set big goals, and multiply their actions. He encourages the audience to focus on developing the skills they need to fulfil their goals rather than sleeping.

When discussing what to do when you don't feel like working, Eng. Oben Desmond Ashu shared a personal tip: he sits on his laptop for about 10 minutes. "When I do this, most of the time I find myself actually working". This echoes the quote, "When you start it's always difficult. But as you keep moving forward, things get better." The key is to start and reduce procrastination.

Eng. Oben Desmond Ashu encouraged the audience to read a lot of books, saying that it helps. "There is no such thing as failure, there are only results" he added, quoting Tony Robbins.
He ended by saying, "Set a goal and make sure it is really big and put in 10x the actions & power to achieve it". And when you fall short, remember past victories and tell yourself "I can do this".

The panellists included Eng Ngoe Kelson Tchinda, Eng Valentina Walters Teboh, Eng Babi Beulah, and Eng Karl Djotchuang Tamo. During the panel discussion, the speakers shared valuable insights on how to become an A-grade student. They emphasized the importance of passion for problem-solving, actively engaging in studying materials, understanding oneself, and drafting timetables and setting priorities.

One practical tip shared during the discussion was the Pomodoro technique for boosting productivity. The Pomodoro technique, recommended by Babi Beulah, is a time management method that involves working for a focused period of 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute break. After completing four 25-minute work periods, a longer break of 15-30 minutes is taken. The panellists recommended incorporating this technique into one's study routine to increase efficiency and productivity. By implementing these insights, anyone can achieve academic success and become an A-grade student.

The session was enlightening, inspiring, and encouraging as the panellists shared their experiences and advised attendees on how to achieve academic success. The Pomodoro technique and effective time management strategies were practical and valuable tools discussed during this panel, which were beneficial to any student seeking academic excellence.

The second-panel discussion at the Hustlers Engineering Student Event 2023 focused on "How Women can Excel Outstandingly in Tech and Life". The panellists, Acha Cynthia, Acha Golder Angwe, and Victoria Gonzalez, shared their experiences and provided insightful tips for women to succeed in tech and life. They emphasized the importance of managing emotional intelligence and being empathetic towards others, in addition to maintaining a balance between personal and work life.

The panellists also stressed the need for self-discipline and surrounding oneself with positive influences, while respecting individuals and maintaining humility. They spoke about the challenges they faced as entrepreneurs in male-dominated fields like tech and encouraged women to be confident, persistent, and believe in themselves. Acha Cynthia quoted, "Balancing life and Tech is an art", and with the right tips and strategies, women can overcome any challenge in their professional and personal lives.

To maximize the usage of emotional intelligence, the panellists recommended developing EQ through self-discipline, managing desires, and surrounding oneself with good company.
By respecting individuals, being empathetic, and maintaining humility, women can thrive in tech despite the male-domination. The discussion highlighted the ethics of life and its impact on society, emphasizing the need to separate personal and work life to achieve success in both areas.

Moderated by Oben Desmond Ashu, this panel was a highlight of the event as it featured successful entrepreneurs in the tech industry in Cameroon. Eng. Fongoh Tayong, the CEO of DigitalRenter, and Acha Cynthia, the founder of SolarCity Cameroon. They shared insightful tips on how to succeed as an entrepreneur in the tech field. They emphasized that contacting your first customers should not be delegated to someone else and that personal finance should not be mixed with company finance.

Moreover, Fongoh Tayong and Acha Cynthia highlighted the importance of having a clear vision and a well-elaborated business plan when building a tech startup. They also stressed the need for entrepreneurs to have the courage to risk their own money before risking someone else's money. In summary, this panel offered valuable insights into what it takes to build a successful tech startup in Cameroon.

To further enhance productivity and increase the chances of success, entrepreneurs can try implementing the Pomodoro Technique as discussed above. By dividing work into 25-minute intervals, or "pomodoros", followed by short breaks, this technique can help improve focus, reduce burnout, and increase productivity. After completing four pomodoros, a longer break is taken. By incorporating this technique into their work routine, entrepreneurs can maximize their productivity and accomplish their goals more efficiently.

The next panel discussion focused on "How to land a 6 figure job in tech and what you need to know". The panellists, Deon Achuo, Wadinga Leonard Ngonga, Frieda Njie, Yunnika Robbert, and Njume Etsike Yannick, all successful tech professionals making 6 figures, shared valuable tips on how to succeed in the job market.

They emphasized the importance of developing in-demand skills, building a personal brand, and networking effectively. They also stressed the need for job seekers to know their strengths and weaknesses, have a positive attitude, always be ready to learn and have a growth plan.

In addition, Deon Achuo and Frieda Njie offered two tips on how to write a CV that stands out:

1. Tailor your CV to the specific job you are applying for, highlighting relevant skills and experience
2. Use quantifiable achievements to demonstrate your impact in previous roles, such as increasing sales revenue or reducing costs.

By following these tips and the other advice from panellists, students and job seekers can increase their chances of landing a high-paying job in the tech industry.

Lastly, we had a panel discussion on "Making money through tech" with Eng Vavanje Deslyn, Eng Akam Romanric, and Eng Clinton Awesome, a successful YouTube content creator. They shared their experiences and gave valuable tips on how to create a successful online presence, network effectively, and leverage social media to grow a personal brand.

They emphasized the importance of building a strong online presence through creating content, whether it's on social media, blogs, or YouTube channels. Make sure to be consistent with your content creation and engage with your followers and subscribers to build a loyal audience.

In addition, the panellists highlighted the value of networking and connecting with others in the industry. They suggested attending events, joining online groups and forums, and reaching out to people in your desired field to expand your network and find new opportunities.

The panellists also discussed the power of social media in growing a personal brand. They advised the listeners to be intentional with their posts and to showcase their skills and personality in a way that aligns with their personal brand. They also stressed the importance of being authentic and transparent on social media, as it helps build trust with your audience. Overall, the panel provided the audience with insightful tips to help them succeed in making money through tech.
